The Role

London Business School are thrilled to be recruiting for a communicative and collaborative Lead Solution Architect to join Technology on a permanent basis. 

The Lead Solution Architect is responsible for shaping and delivering robust, scalable software solutions that drive London Business School's digital transformation. As a technical though leader, this role sets the technical direction for software development, establishes and maintains architectural standards, and ensures alignment with best practices and business objectives.

This role requires outstanding communication, collaboration and problem-solving sills, with the ability to architect solutions that address complex business and technology challenges in a fast-paced, agile environment. 

The LBS Technology Department is responsible for delivering and supporting all digital technology solutions required for the effective running of London Business School. We provide specialist capability in Service Delivery, Software Development, Digital Solutions Delivery, Teaching and Learning Technology, Platform Integration, Data Management, Cyber Security, Project Delivery, Business Analysis, User Experience, Business Change and Enterprise Architecture. 

Main Responsibilities

• Leading the end-to-end architectural design and implementation of software solutions, ensuring adherence to modern design patterns and standards.
• Driving the adoption of cloud-native, modular, and adaptable services, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
• Providing technical leadership and architectural oversight across both internally developed products and externally sourced (SaaS) applications.
• Collaborating effectively with stakeholders to translate business needs into well-architected solutions and communicating complex technical concepts clearly.
• Supporting the development of technology strategy, enterprise architecture, and technical roadmaps in partnership with the Director of Strategy and Architecture.
• Championing best practices in software development, fostering a culture of excellence, and mentoring engineering teams.

Who we are looking for

• Significant industry experience of solution architecture/software engineering across multiple technologies, languages, and frameworks.
• Experience of architecting cloud-native enterprise applications with Microsoft Azure - certification such as Azure Solution Architect or similar.
• Experience of designing highly scalable and distributed cloud-based micro-services and event-driven integrations.
• Experience of designing and developing enterprise applications using C# and .NET framework.
• Experience of modern web application frameworks, practices, and technologies
• Experience designing and implementing composable architectures enabling modular, scalable, and API-first solutions that support rapid integration and adaptability in cloud-native environments.
• Effective coaching and leadership skills and an ability to oversee multiple projects and act as a design authority.
• Strong communication and presentation experience and the ability to explain technical details and challenges to a wide variety of people.

All roles require a minimum of two days on campus each week to foster a vibrant, collaborative community.

For this role specifically, you will be expected to be on campus on occasion for key meetings, with the need for flexibility based on business need.

We operate with ‘core hours’ – 10:00-15:00 – to maximise opportunities for connection and collaboration across teams during the working day. Outside of these hours, you may still be required for meetings or collaboration based on your role and customer needs. Additionally, we offer Protected Time - a flexible, one-hour slot, within the working week dedicated to your learning and development, wellbeing, or focused, quiet work
